Bracket City is a daily word and trivia puzzle built around nested clues inside square brackets. Each puzzle begins as a partially hidden sentence connected to a historical fact from that calendar date. The player solves individual bracketed clues to uncover words and phrases, which gradually reveal the larger sentence. There is no story, character progression, combat, or level campaign. Each daily puzzle is a self-contained chain of interconnected word clues.

Each daily puzzle is a self-contained chain of interconnected word clues.
The brackets can contain other brackets, sometimes several layers deep. The usual approach is to begin with the innermost clue because it contains no unresolved brackets. Once its answer is entered correctly, that word becomes part of the surrounding clue and makes the next layer easier to understand. This process continues outward until all nested clues are solved and the complete sentence becomes readable.
The puzzles combine several types of wordplay and general knowledge. During a game, the player can:
· solve synonyms and straightforward definitions;
· complete phrases and idioms;
· answer general-knowledge or trivia clues;
· work through crossword-style wordplay;
· solve brackets in a different order when enough information is available;
· reveal the first letter of an answer when a hint is needed;
· continue until every bracket has disappeared.
Some puzzles contain only a few final words but require many individual clues because one answer can be nested inside another.
Bracket City does not use a traditional grid. The puzzle is displayed as a line or sentence in which unresolved sections remain inside brackets. Correct answers change the text itself, so every solved clue provides additional context for the rest of the puzzle. Emojis can also appear inside clues and should be treated as part of the clue rather than as decoration.
The main mode provides one new puzzle each day, and previous puzzles can be opened through the archive. Normal mode allows the player to review and edit an answer before submitting it. Hard mode removes that extra confirmation, so an answer is submitted as soon as its final letter is entered.
The puzzle is complete when all nested clues have been solved and the original hidden text has turned into one full historical statement. The central challenge is therefore to use each solved word as context for the next layer and work from the deepest brackets outward until the entire sentence is revealed.
